Cleaning Instructions

This is an image of what severe oxidation looks like on faded PVC/Vinyl. If you have shutters made of other plastic types, it may not “dust” off like the picture but may be engrained in the shutters. Either way, a premium cleaner like Shuter Renu Cleaner Concentrate will be able to help you remove the oxidation. Oxidation is your number one enemy. It is crucial to remove the oxidation to restore color to faded plastic shutters.

Shutter Cleaning Tools: Gentle abrasive pad to remove oxidation, Shutter Renu Cleaner Concentrate.

Step 1

Mix 1 part Shutter Renu™ Professional Grade Cleaner Concentrate to 9 parts water.  Mix in a pump-up garden sprayer, bucket or spray bottle.

Step 2

Spray cleaner on no more than 2 shutters at a time. Allow solution to sit for 10 minutes. Let the cleaner do the heavy work by keeping it wet.

If cleaner dries simply re-wet the shutter with your cleaner solution.

Step 3

Use a non-scratch scouring pad and scrub the shutters.

Remove ALL chalking, dirt, mold/mildew, etc. This allows the color restorer to penetrate deeply to restore the original color.

Step 4

Rinse thoroughly with a garden hose. It is important to remove ALL the cleaner before applying Shutter Renu™ premium color restorer.

Step 5

Use the “Nail Scratch Test”:  Gently scratch the surface with your fingernail or a penny and if it makes marks on the vinyl, you have not sufficiently removed the oxidation.

Review your Work.
