How Do I Clean My Shutters?
Use Renu™ Cleaner Concentrate. Renu™ Cleaner will remove oxidation, chalkiness, many stains and will clean your vinyl shutters. Renu™ Cleaner will also clean most mold, algae and mildew from your vinyl siding, metal siding, aluminum siding, front doors, garage doors and patio furniture. Renu™ cleaner is the best vinyl siding cleaner on the market because it is specifically formulated for siding and plastics. Simply dilute the cleaner as recommended on the packaging, spray onto surface, scrub and rinse. For heavy oxidation, allow cleaner to penetrate on shutters for 5-15 minutes before scrubbing. KEEP cleaner WET by misting occasionally if necessary.
Please ensure cleaner is completely rinsed off, and that all surfaces are completely dry, prior to applying Vinyl Renu™ or Shutter Renu. Rinsing can be more challenging if using a more concentrated solution for cleaning stubborn stains, algae, mold and oxidation from your vinyl siding, metal siding, aluminum siding, shutters, patio furniture, garage doors front doors or the many other surfaces that our cleaners performs on. Using a soft flow with large amounts of water works best.
How do I dilute Professional Grade Vinyl Renu™ Cleaner?
Dilute to a ratio of 5:1. This means that for every one quart of Professional Grade Renu™ Cleaner, you add five quarts of water. We suggest using distilled water if you do not have city water to rinse.
What if I can’t get all of the oxidation off like in the instructional video?
Some shutters have taken a real beating from the environment and require special treatment. Please contact us with any questions. We are here to help!! For shutters that are highly weathered and chalky-white, we recommend using Renu™ Cleaner as-is, without diluting. Allow to penetrate (keep wet). We also recommend using a soft abrasive dish pad made by companies like 3M. It will require gentle scouring. Be cautious not to create scratch marks by using too harsh of an abrasive or using too much force. Highly weathered shutters may require a little experimentation with various cleaning pads. When complete, ensure that ALL the Renu™ Cleaner is rinsed off. The shutters should not feel slippery. This is a critical step.
What is the best way to clean my faded shutters, vinyl siding, aluminum siding or cement board?
The best way to clean faded shutters, vinyl siding, aluminum siding or other outdoor surfaces is with Renu™ Cleaner Concentrate. Using Renu™ Cleaner Concentrate, we recommend diluting according to the package or according to the severity of the job. Allow the cleaner to stay on the surface for as long as possible without drying. Do not allow the cleaner to dry as this will increase the difficulty of rinsing the cleaner from the siding. Scrub the areas to be cleaned and rinse. Renu™ cleaner is specifically formulated to remove oxidation, mold, mildew and algae from vinyl siding, aluminum siding and many other outdoor surfaces.

What is the Renu™ “Nail Scratch Test”?
After you have cleaned your shutters and they are dry, do the Nail Scratch Test. Scratch the vinyl with your nail; if there is still a mark on the vinyl, you have not removed all the oxidation. A very faint mark is alright, but a very visible mark means you should repeat the cleaning process. Not sure? Send us pictures and our lab geeks will advise you!
